It took the author 7 years to finish this hand-written Bible.

If I have the luxury of time I would have done the same…perhaps. Writing down than just reading makes everything easier to understand. That’s how it has always been for me even when I was still a schoolkid. Jotting down or doing some scribbles as the teacher gives a lecture makes me remember better.

I’ve been studying the bible too since I entered first grade in school, of course, I do not have the same understanding then as now. I thank my teachers for instilling in me the love for the bible because now I recognized the truth the moment it approached me, I accepted it and it has set me free.

Memorial of Jesus’ death

Lifted from my other blog. (I wanted to post something else, something about my dad but I’d do that a few days from now.)

On the 14th day of the Jewish month Nisan, Jesus and his disciples were preparing for the Feast of the Passover. A feast celebrated for commemorating the event that happened to the Hebrews during their stay in Egypt, the last plague when all first born of the house who has no painted lamb’s blood on their doors died as opposed to those who did. (Exodus 11)

That same night, Jesus was arrested, then brought to trial and sentenced to death for blasphemy. After much abuse, he was taken to Golgotha, nailed on a torture stake and died for mankind like the sacrificial lamb of the earlier times used to redeem the people of their sins. As the Hebrew firstborns who put blood on their doors where saved, so it is the same today, believing in the blood of Jesus will give the believer…life.

So it is the same on that day of Nisan 14, the moon was shining fully…I am glad that I am able to participate in the memorial of Jesus’ death and was able to fulfill what he commanded: “This means my body which is in your behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” He did likewise respecting the cup also, after he had the evening meal, saying: “This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood. Keep doing this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” (1 Corinthian 11:24-25)

I patiently wait for spring to come, as Hemingway once said; “Part of you dies each year when the leaves fell from the trees and their branches were bare against the wind and the cold, wintry light. But you knew there would always be the spring, as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen.”

True enough, spring promises so many wonderful things to a photographer’s delight. On top of my list would be the cherry blossoms/sakura. This is my bit of Japan in Vienna.

(Cherry blossoms and bokeh are both my addictions!)

Hi! Today I’m treating you to a favorite dessert of mine, Panna cotta (cooked cream). This delicate and sweet gel-o is made up of whipped cream and milk, here with strawberry sauce. There are many toppings and sauces one can use but as is, panna cotta is already awesome to the palate. Should you be interested for a recipe, pleaase click here. Then again, nothing is sweeter than the smile of a happy kid…takes away the anxiety of the day when you see it…

What could be fresher than a bottle of water after hours in the water? Ironic, even though you’ve been in the water you can’t drink it.lol. So here’s the little boy with his bottle after tiring himself…swimming a bit, following daddy as he swims, searching for shells and jumping up and down! In those few hours, he was burned brown…well, freshly baked by the sun!

The perfect theme to showcase my 3 kids!

I’ve many times wrote that having 3 kids is a Herculean task! Well, I’d gladly take that, along with the quarrels and misunderstandings come kisses, hugs and laughter so in everyday lingo, it’s just quits! All worth it!

In this photo, my youngest was a bit unhappy because he wanted to sit in the middle but wasn’t given the chance, just another issue among them, giving and letting…or not!

If you haven’t been to my food blog yet, this is the right time for me to plug it. KitchenMaus started out as a blog for my food photos since I enjoy taking photos of food as much as that of kids. I ended up posting also reviews of food and places the kids and I enjoy and some simple dishes I cook at home.

Pasta is one of those simple dishes. There are too many kinds to list down so here’s just two, spaghetti no.5 and spirale. A recipe for basil and tomato pasta is here.

Foreign

Seeing chocolate bunnies and eggs on store shelves whenever I do my buying-list makes me feel foreign or alienated. We don’t celebrate Easter because of the tradition behind it. Well, supposedly it is celebrated in relation to Jesus Christ’s resurrection right? Tradition and practice however points to the pagan practice of spring worship, that of an Anglo-Saxon goddess, Estre from whom ‘easter’ was derived. Coincidentally, the Passover observed by then believers of God is close to the date of the spring equinox…reason why there is only one mention of easter in the Bible found in Acts 12:4 of the King James Version…there seems to be an error in translation.

I could go and on as I always have…but google would show what I mean…well, bunnies and eggs both; symbol of fertility are used in relation to the worship of the spring goddess…
