It’s abstract. The little boy has the liberty to splash watercolor on his paper anyway he wants. I have a big problem with watercolors…I don’t really enjoy cleaning them up afterwards so the kids can do very little of this activity.
Watercolor painting is a fun way for kids to enjoy art and crafts. Making them play with colors and let them develop beautiful works of art is a lovely experience.
We’ve seen a number of world renowned and famous painters’ watercolor paintings/masterpieces at the museums we visited. I see to it that I introduce the kids to these painters by telling them a bit of their personal lives, their techniques and if I know, where they grew up and where they trained/lived as a painter. I see to it that I brush my knowledge when I get the time to do so that I may be able to relate them to the kids later on.
Take Pablo Picasso for example. I knew that the artist is Spanish but I never knew that he comes from Malaga until my Spanish teacher mentioned it. He was a proud fellow countryman of Picasso. ^_ ^
Picasso’s works are often on display at the Albertina. Coincidentally or not, we’ve been to his exhibits compared to than any other artists. So for this weekend, I let them paint with watercolors and taught them again about Picasso….
Do you think the little boy is taking me seriously? Look at his expression.
