Drei Chinesen mit dem Kontrabass

Whenever I see this photo I am reminded of a nonsensical German song the kids often sing…

The first stanza is sung in correct German:

Drei Chinesen mit dem Kontrabass
saßen auf der Straße und erzählten sich was.
Da kam die Polizei, ei was ist denn das?
Drei Chinesen mit dem Kontrabass.

In English, it goes like this:

Three Chinese with a double bass
Sat on the street and chatted something.
Along came the police: ‘Now what is this?‘
Three Chinese with a double bass.

My daughter plays this short piece in piano and the boys would sing along playfully. After this the lyrics are changed with all vowels to a, then to e, i, o and u which makes it really fun.
