Coming from the jazz dance class, my kids would suddenly burst to a song that goes “Nossa, nossa” – followed by lyrics I wasn’t so sure of. It’s not German nor English and I was hearing the word mata which is Filipino for eyes and thought, might be Spanish but the Spanish word for eyes is ojo.
So I search here and there and really, mom-me is so late to know. The song is Ai Se Eu Te Pego by Brazilian sertanejo singer and song writer Michel Teló. The song has gained international fame, most particularly in Europe, as footballers wold often dance to it after a goal…
My daughter will be dancing to this in one of their performances for the jazz dance class. So here’s the lyrics to it and the English version, heard Telo singing it in English but I’d prefer the original in Portuguese.
