Google celebrates the official start of spring today with a Google Doodle. On this day that astronomers call the equinox, day and night are exactly equal in length. Now the days are getting longer…of course it means waking up earlier too!
Spring is here! I’m happy and sad, happy coz I’d be seeing and photographing my favorite flowers in bloom; sad because my allergies are starting. 🙁
The Google spring equinox doodle was designed by Marimekko, a Finnish textile and clothing design company founded in 1951 known for their bright colors. This Google doodle is the brainchild of a creative collaboration by eight Finnish designers: Maija Isola, Kristina Isola, Erja Hirvi, Maija Louekari, Aino-Maija Metsola, Teresa Moorhouse, Jenni Tuominen and Katsuji Wakisaka.
Apparently, when Google president Marissa Mayer visited Marimekko’s textile printing factory in Helsinki she thought of the idea. The spring equinox Google doodle has a playfulness feel about it which can be seen with flowers, a stork, a loaded truck, butterflies and a zebra. You might think it’s a child’s art.
See more of my tulip/s shots. 🙂

Cool concept! And sorry to hear about being happy and sad all at the same time. I’m actually worried about my own allergies since summer is coming. =(
