Considered the supreme genius of German literature, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is today’s feature on Google Doodle. He was born on this day 262 years ago. His 82 years were spent meaningfully, inspiring many an artist in the fields of music, drama, poetry and philosophy .
This is Goethe’s memorial at Vienna’s first district, situated at the corner of Opernring and Goethegasse (Burggarten by the Hofburg Palace). His poetry was set to music by almost every major German and of course, Austrian composer from Mozart to Mahle.r
