My younger son showed early signs of being a left-handed and so did my older son but when the latter turned 4-years-old, he changed to his right; most kids start like that.
I keep babbling about this kid being left-handed and there’s a good reason for that. It’s the claim about left-handed artists. This includes Dürer, da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Klee and Munch from a long list.
I’m a fan of those I mentioned and it excites me seeing my little boy doodling a lot. He enjoys looking at paintings too and as always I’d be the supportive mom explaining bits and pieces.
During our visit at the Louvre, he was merely 1.5-years-old. I doubt if he remembers any of those paintings displayed there. One of the paintings I make sure they’re familiar with is the Mona Lisa. Right, from a left-handed master, Leonardo da Vinci…a genius in math, music and art. It was his greatest desire to be apprenticed to a painter, a profession which was looked down upon at the time…this proved beneficial for him amd his true place in life.
(Mona Lisa – taken in 2007 at the Louvre.)
This little left-handed boy is now five-years-old. Still doodling like this on the floor, on the table, on the bed and every place else he can.
