A bedroom is a special place in the house where people spend their time to sleep, and relax. Apart from the customary bed, a regular bedroom is expected to contain a closet, dresser, and a desk. The more lavish type has its own bathroom, or perhaps a porch overlooking an inspiring view. While these are not necessarily fundamental, there are basic interior design and decorating ideas that can be used to make the bedroom a secluded haven for a perfect rest.
To make the bedroom cozy, comfortable, an inviting space for the weary shoulders, here are the 7 best points to focus on.

Wall Color
When working with an interior designer, make sure to let him or her know of the color scheme you have in mind. Ask your interior designer if he or she has a color palette and from there, choose the appropriate colors for your bedroom. Choose neutral colors like brown, white, grey, or beige to create a subdued atmosphere conducive to relaxation and sleep. You can also paint an accent wall, or a little bit for some rebellious focal point. Make sure that the colors of the furniture and accessories complement the color motif of the walls, ceilings and the floor.
Bed size
Choose the appropriate bed. If the area is not big enough, avoid picking a large bed because it is bound to fill all the space and make the room look even smaller. On the other hand, opting for a small bed may leave many empty spaces. Find the perfect size of bed that is just appropriate for the room dimension. Along with the size, choose a comfortable mattress that is not only soft but also strong enough to support your body as you doze off to dreamland.
Flooring
Ask your interior designer to use warm flooring material. To add warmth and charm in the bedroom, choose wood or engineered wood flooring. These two are best options for the long term, they are both easy to clean and maintain. Aside from giving your bedroom an elegant feel, wood or engineered wood flooring is warm in winter and cold in the summer. These two floor types are made to last, and engineered wood floors are not prone to warping. Its construction of a layers of hardwood bonded over a premium-quality plywood gives it very good stability.
Others may view wood floors as superior, but with technology, engineered wood floors are now at par and doesn’t cost as much. It’s also easier to install for those who are not experts when it comes to floors.
Fabrics
Choose the right fabrics for your bed and walls. Coordinate or complement the fabrics used for bed sheets, curtains, and upholstery with the overall color scheme of the room. It’s always wise to consider comfortable beddings for when you spend bedtime stories with the kids.
If the walls are painted in light color, choose fabrics with dark shades, patterns, or designs. It is also best to hang dark curtains to diffuse too much light from getting through. Dark curtains are the best contrasting element for light walls and ceilings.
Lighting
Install the right lighting fixtures, preferably lights that aren’t too bright or lights that set a romantic mood in the bedroom. Provide enough storage space to keep clothes, shoes, and other personal organized. Finally, choose the right type of window treatment not only for allowing natural light to come in but also for air to pass through it.
Plants
The fame of the greens has been more prominent this time of the year, as many plantmoms and plantdads spent more time at home doing something to keep their minds and hands busy instead of idling away. Aloe veras, rubber plants, zamioculcas, succulents, are some of those that are easy to raise and some of them even cleans out the air. Having no garden means making use of space wisely for these green babies.
Bedroom Decor and Accessories
Rugs, a side table, photo frames, lamps, pretty boxes, are some of the usual things to add in your bedroom. The pretty boxes will hide away clutter, while photo frames will of course be holders of beautiful memories. You can use lamps or dimmers if you are someone who likes to read, it also helps prevent accidents at night for those whose eyes aren’t as sharp as cats.

My room definitely needs a make-over. I’ll keep these tips in mind. Thanks!
I wished we could afford an interior decorator! However, being able to control what I put in my free space is what I do best. Since I share my bedroom with my husband and baby, we have half the room as a nursery themed-like and the other half just warm and functional.
true, I would bet it looks better when experts are involved…
i like the interior design of the bedroom 🙂 make me want to decorate too!
Great tips as always! We recently changed our curtains from a cool dark shade of green to a golden yellow to complement our new wallpaper and realized that was a HUGE mistake! Not only did the new curtains make the room warmer, it was way too bright! Late weekend sleep-ins were impossible. The cost for the blackout lining and sewing cost more than the curtains and in the end, we decided to buy a new set of curtains with a darker shade.
I love it! I would be like the cat so happy!
i like the ideas, beautiful photos…
Great ideas! I love the calming of the lighter blues, I plan on doing my bedroom as well as my nursery in calming colors!
