This article suggesting fun weekend activities with the kids is meant for when it is safe and secure to move around. Please take extra precautions when going out.
Children are bouncing balls of pure energy, and if you don’t help them find an excellent way to release it, you are in for a hard time. Weekends are some of their best times since they don’t have to go to school and naturally, they will probably be planning to have fun then. You could let them plan something by themselves, A Rubik’s cube, chess game, Blokus with the fam, or you could surprise them with a well-planned schedule of nothing short of pure fun. Here are some ideas that will give you the ultimately unforgettable weekends full of fun with your kids.
ZOO

Naturally, children are fascinated by animals. This is perhaps why animals are some of the first things they encounter when growing up, whether in colouring books, nursery rhyme or bedtime stories.
If you have a zoo in town, it would be a wonderful place to spend the weekend with the kids. The whole family should have a great time seeing lions, monkeys, giraffes and tigers. Some zoos even let you feed the animals, of course under supervision. The kids would totally be thrilled.
MUSEUMS

Museums offer so much and are a great place for learning. Science museums are great if your kids show some real interest in biology, physics or chemistry. Here they get to see how things work in the real world away from their textbooks.
History museums will never not be fascinating. There is so much for your family to learn, and the children will be particularly thrilled with the artefacts section. It is an excellent way for them to learn and remember historical information.
You can choose to visit a museum out of town for a different experience each time. Some have excellent features like animated dinosaurs and fun games themed on history. Here’s how you and the kids can enjoy a museum visit.
MOVIES

The movies are not just for date nights. They make great spots for family hangouts. While not everyone can have a movie theater, going out with friends on movie night is a good way to bond! They are incredibly fun when the whole family can dress up as their favourite characters or in one piece.
Fun family-friendly movies will often feature cartoons, 3D movies, and animations. It would be fantastic if you could secure tickets for your children, especially when it is premiering. You can then spend a good amount on popcorn and soda and let the kids have that much sugar just then. You could then talk about the kids’ favourite characters on your way back home and enjoy listening to how they reason out.
PLAY DATES AT THE PARK

You should not limit children’s playtime to the house. Playing with the same toys at the same place with no peer company would be boring for anyone.
Playdates are a great idea, especially if you know other moms around your area. You could take the kids to the park in the evenings or afternoons when it is not too hot and let them play together as you socialize with the moms. You can bring pillows and blankets in the park to let your kids sit on it while playing with other kids.
Playdates are great for learning social skills. Your kids learn how to work cooperatively with other children, solve their own conflicts, delegate, tolerate and defend themselves. Here they also learn independence and other essential life skills like sharing and making friends.
HIKES AND TRAILS

Hiking is a great family adventure that helps you spend quality time with your kids while also exercising. There should be at least one hiking trail nearby.
When preparing for hiking, be sure that the trail has been declared safe for children. It could be an easy trail up a hill or a mystery trail that lets you solve mysteries and unlock new clues at each milestone. The latter would make a fun adventure for the kids.
Before leaving, make sure that everyone is in good physical shape for that. Pack up everything you will need from energy drinks and chocolate bars to your first aid kit. Don’t forget to pack plenty of water – you will need to stay hydrated.
SPORT EVENTS

Most schools host sporting events on Saturdays or Sunday afternoons. If your child is playing, your family should make a point of showing up to support them.
You could wear jerseys or outfits with their team name or logo and cheer them on during the game. They will be less anxious and give it their best when they know that their family is watching and supporting them.
After the game, you could all get some food or ice cream. It would be best if you celebrated regardless of the outcome. This should make a great family weekend.
KIDS CONCERTS AND LIVE SHOWS

Is your children’s favourite music band coming to town? Is Doc McStuffins or The Bureau of Magical Things hosting a live show or meet-and-greet? Your kids would be thrilled if you got the tickets. They get to meet their favourite artists and actors, and maybe even get an autograph.
Sometimes you may have to travel with the kids so they can attend their favourite shows. Some kids’ awards, for example, maybe held in the same place every year, so you will need to bring the kids there to attend.
AMUSEMENT PARKS

The amusement park will always be an excellent place for any kid. There is still so much to do from eating mounds of cotton candy and ice cream to riding the roller-coasters. Make sure that the kids are old enough for things like the roller-coaster or merry-go-round. The younger kids would do just fine on the carousel. You could also have fun family competitions at the arcade.
In conclusion, the weekend with kids should be fun and memorable. If you let them stay in all day with their phones and video games, they will miss out on so much. They may not get the chance to build on their social skills and be exposed to different ways of thinking. Also, you don’t have to spend a fortune for a great family weekend. You could all spend the day making a special meal, baking, or putting together a DIY project, and it would still be a perfect day…and yes all weekend activities no matter the season are worth taking pictures of.
