We’ve seen her being saved from being voted off the show, we’ve seen how strong of a contender she is and we’ve been swept away, crying at every song she sang the previous shows…but tonight, American Idol judge Steven Tyler went ahead a week earlier and said that he believes Jessica Sanchez will take home the much coveted AI win.
That’s not to say that Phillip Phillips and Joshua Ledet were not good in their performances, standing ovations would prove that they stood their ground and it was a tough battle for all three of them.
Phillip Phillips was phenomenal with his performance of Bob Seger’s We’ve Got Tonight. “That was the perfect song at the perfect time and your best performance on the show ever. This boy right here is in it to win it and he’s ready,” Jackson said.
“There are about 20 million girls out there who wish you were singing that song to them,” Lopez said.
Phillips also sung Matchbox Twenty’s “Disease” and “Beggin'” by Madcom.
Joshua Ledet sang Etta James’ “I’d Rather Go Blind”, Mary J. Blige’s “No More Drama”, and John Lennon’s “Imagine” but had to bid goodbye as this failed to earn him the most numbers of audience votes.
Tyler told the singer: “‘Out of 70,000, there’s only one American Idol. And you sang like that one tonight.”
Jessica sang Mariah Carey’s My All, chosen by the judging panel. Afterwards, Steven Tyler told her, as if predicting: ‘I think, in a way, you will be the last one standing.’
Jessica bravely chose Aerosmith’s ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ and sing it in front of the band’s frontman, Tyler himself.
Let’s see who gets the big applause next week! 🙂
